Daily Contribution to the Leeds United Quagmire. Introduction.

Today is a special day for me; it’s one of my daughter’s second birthday. To celebrate this momentous event Clarkeonenil announces the launch of a new daily feature on all things Leeds United called “Daily Contribution to the Leeds United Quagmire“. This new feature, with new content every day, will range across the issues and idiocies only our club, even when the results are ok/better, could muster up.

Just to be clear, the direction and tone of the “Daily Contribution” will reflect the nature of this site, it will be wary, difficult to please and cynical, particularly around the ownership issues (we remain the only fully committed Bates Out blog outside of Love Leeds Hate Bates). The consequences of our history and particularly the last 15 years will rite large. We will be demanding of the football management and the playing staff, not for us the childishness of “IGWT” or the cheer-leader mentality of parts of the support. Whilst we are happy to share in and emanate out any success or good feeling the club can generate just to do that kind of thing would be meaningless, you can get it elsewhere with other erstwhile blogs (who we always wish the best of luck to).

The Daily Contribution will allow Clarkeonenil to finally settle on its split personality, passing from a general football blog dominated by all things Leeds United to a Leeds United blog with an English football hinterland. The old flaws will remain and maybe new ones will emerge, all part of the process of growth. The regular features will survive, The Original Grumpy Old Man, GG’s Monday Talking Point, DM’s Teenage Kicks in will all add to the mix. The Sniffers will change a little, no need for them to bother much on matters Leeds United whilst the Daily Contribution runs amok (as an aside if anyone fancies trying their hand at either Sniffer Nose or Sniffer’s Sunday Shorts, get in touch, more than happy to see how that goes).

The Daily Contribution will be more thoughtful than the Sniffers, longer in words and meatier in content that the individual segments you usually get on a Tuesday or Thursday. Sometimes it will react to ongoing events, sometimes it will reflect on recent or previous issues, sometimes it will try and form the agenda. What it won’t hopefully do is follow the crowd, be it with its insights or its choice of issue. The Daily Contribution will be happy to receive exclusives or suggestions for bringing to Leeds fans attention issues that might otherwise get lost. Starting tomorrow Clarkeonenil becomes a little more campaigning and a little less out to please. Enjoy, or not as the case make take you.

Cheers, Editor.
